Today I travelled on the 11:10 service to Galway and return with 080, which is now repainted into the new silver/black/yellow livery. Photos include, 080 at various locations including the run round at Galway, 2603/04 on a Ballina-Drogheda transfer, 218 on a push pull, also I returned west again on return behind 081 on the 17:50 to Galway to Portarlington where there is extensive work being carried out to re-align the curve and extend the platforms.

I travelled on the 17:05 Sligo with the Mk2s hauled by 078. 206 was in Connolly heading for Inchicore. In Mullingar was no less than 3 small gms. 187 was on a ballast while 152+190 were on the Galway road after working the RPSI "Garavogue" Railtour earlier that day. 29110 worked the 18:45 Lonford-Connolly service.

The opening of the Docklands station was celebrated with a formal opening. The event was packed to capacity with An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, Minister Cullen, Minister Lenihan, Dr. John Lynch chairman CIÉ, Mr. Richard Fern, Barry Kenny along with many others attened the opening.
This collection has photos of services operating from the Docklands, the brand new 22000 class railcar on display, the official launch by An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern and some photos of a trip to Thomastown on the 16:25 with 088.

The second set are 3 pics of 113 again working the 19:00 to Belfast on 05-03-07 because of a DD failure. 192 shunted the stock at Connolly.

Then it was the 13:10 with 085 to Tralee and back to Mallow to catch the 19:30 ex Cork home. Great day out!

The station at Kilmeaden is kept very well and I loved the old Mk 2abc coach 4106 which is now a booking office and waiting room. There is 16 photos in the collection.

Today I had just planned to go to Cork and back on the Mk 4 except when I heard outside Mallow that 112 was working the 13:10 Tralee with an 11 piece Craven set. Bailed off at Limerick J. and onto the Mk 3 set 10 mins later heading back to Mallow to catch 112 which was following behind.Photos include Interior of the Mk 4 incl. standard, dining and citygold, 4002 mk 4 DVT, celebrity loco 124+184 at plat. 10 Heuston with guinness bogies, 112 and its Cravens plus other various shots of the day.

First it was to Wellingtonbridge to get a few shots of the loading process. 071 was siting idle beside the automatic dummy wagon which was shunting 8 new open top container wagons. Taylorstown bank : empties from Waterford, 169+166 flew down the bank with 31 empties. 071 with big beet containers.071 crossing the Suir bridge ,the longest bridge in the Republic. Also shots at Waterford of the Beet and 2700 railcars plus 212 with Mk3. 224 and 6101 in Kilkenny. 47 photos in collection.

To give the 2 remaining 121 class locos 124+134 a send off they deserve IÉ ran a railtour on a return trip to Sligo with a set of Cravens. It was a beautiful sunny day and the locos ran as if 44 days old rather than 44 years old! Pictures were taken off film camera and scanned onto computer. Enjoy :)

Today I took a quick spin out to Maynooth and back on the Mk 2s which are soon to be taken over by 29000s railcars. Shots include : 080, 082,227, 145, 9002 and a few 29000s.

As the 1960s Cravens are being withdrawn from regular service starting from the new timetable, I took one last opportunity to travel on them from Mallow-Cork-Tralee-Mallow. I also travelled down on the 08:20 Saturday only which is operated by Mk 2s which will not run in the new timetable. Great day in all . Shots include: 189,170+171, 112, 2 Mk 4 sets with 230 and 217, 083, 073, 212, 216, 214, and plenty of shots of 2600 and 2700 railcars in Cork area. Enjoy!!

I took a trip out to Newbridge today to get shots of the very busy Bank Holiday services on the Friday evening. Shots also in Raheny station.
Shots include: 145+169, 173, Darts, Mk 2s, Cravens, railcars and plenty of Mk 3s. Weather wasn't the greatest later on in the day.

On the 8-10-05 the ITG ran a railtour from Dublin Connolly to Ballina via Heuston, Portarlington, Athlone, Claremorris and Ballina. It was a brilliant day with no less than 6 141's in Ballina at lunch time and a timber train in Castlerea. 38 photos in the collection so Enjoy!!

Another Busy day at Heuston with a few Mk. 2's , Cravens. Today was the All Ireland Hurling Final between Cork and Galway in which IÉ provided 12 specials each way for the big match. Here a some of them from Heuston.

On Sunday 21st August, Galway and Kilkenny played each other in the All-Ireland Hurling Semi-Final in Croke Park. Iarnród Éireann provided a number of specials to bring the supporters to and from the match. Here are the photos of the return departures out of Connolly.
